The Devil's Noise

Can you hear that sound from not far away,
And all the silence it keeps pushed at bay?
It's deafening-loud and full of such hate.
It's the devil laying out his worldly bait.

Can you see what evil things that he does,
Through sex and hate and greed and drugs?
Can't you see what joy he takes in all this,
Just like he did long ago with that infamous kiss?

He thrives on and loves each sin filled cold deed;
As we plant each and every death-soaked sin seed.
He's applauding and cheering, delighting for sure,
As we give in and take in his charming allure

And the devil, he knows the full cost of all sin;
That if one's not forgiven then it's death in the end.
But why would he care he never really loved you.
He just masks sin with pleasure so his kingdom accrues.

But wait just a minute for that silence that was;
Was not really quiet but was a voice from above.
And if we try really hard and blot out the noise,
We will hear the best promise that our hearts could employ.

From outside of the noise that seems like a cage,
There's an offer of life where death's not the wage;
Where forgiveness and faith are the keys to success,
And all can have life and avoid eternal death.
