Five in the Morning

God woke me up, five in the morning
Still half asleep, stretching and yawning

He lead me to water, still moonlit hour
He got my attention, scalding hot shower

Told me of things, both good and bad
Eased all my worries, each one I had

He laid on my heart, things of His will
I stood there in silence, perfectly still

At five in the morning, quite short on words
All I could mutter was, "thank You, I heard"

  1. Your honesty here made me laugh... bleery-eyed mutterings are so true of all of us at that hour! (I'm a nighthawk - energized from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. - so around 5 I'm winding down, beginning to see double as I head for bed!) Terrific poem, Ryan. :0)
