The Gift Of Life

A second, a minute, an hour, a life;
Love, enjoyment; turmoil and strife;
Anger, frustration, pleasure, delight,
Lost in the darkness looking for light

Lead by the world and all of it's lies,
Lead to the brink where everyone dies.
Trying to save myself from destruction
By giving in freely to the world's seduction.

Couldn't do it alone and I failed when I tried;
Trying so hard, hanging on to my pride.
I needed some help and I needed a guide
So I let go of all and here's what I cried:

Please save me Jesus I'm a sinner for sure.
Please take my place with your being so pure.
I've become of this world and I want it no more.
It's you that I want to praise and adore.

Rescue me Jesus, save me from all my sin.
Take me away from the way that I've been.
You are my LORD, God's only lone Son,
The one who has died for the wicked I've done.

I believe that you died on the cross just to end it,
Rose from the grave, then to heaven ascended
Now you sit by your Father the world amended
Just as it always had been so intended.

So I turn from my sin, I repent with disgust,
From the lying, the hatred, the anger and lust.
I give You my life to lead and to rule,
So I walk as the wise and not as the fool.

Thank you, dear LORD, for a life that won't cease,
That goes on after death with glorious peace.
Thank you, LORD Jesus, for this wonderful gift,
For the rest of my life your name I will lift.
